As solo librarian for turbomachinery R&D firm with two locations, manage all facets of library and information services.

  • Deliver in-depth research, quick reference, and custom tailored information packages, using Dialog, Internet and conventional data sources.  Initiate current awareness programs, and proactively provide project resources in support of all departments, from mechanical engineering to marketing. Conduct bibliographic instruction sessions for library patrons.
  • Design, create, and maintain internal website for ISO-9001 documentation.  Proofread and edit ISO documents for consistent grammar and formatting.
  • Acquire and manage electronic and print materials, including standards and specifications, books, CD-ROMs, competitor files, corporate archive, and Web services.  Create MS-Access and Excel based catalogs and authority lists, and other indices.  Set budget, maintain accounts and handle vendor contracts.
  • Special projects have included creating an interdepartmental competitive intelligence file, researching a disaster recovery plan, establishing topical files of articles, and recommending and approving NREC’s first Internet service provider and web host.
  • Facility Security Officer 1991 – 2000.  Supervised Defense Industrial Security program including personnel clearances and control of classified documents.  Held clearance commensurate with facility (OODEP).

2000 - 2001 Content Producer/Information Scientist, Fact City, Inc., Waltham MA

  • Researched and analyzed potential data partners for Fact City's query engine.  Defined and documented requirements for answer presentations from individual data sets, creating specifications and project plans. 
  • Created search terms for content, anticipating users' information-seeking behavior.  Authored metadata and content modules using XML.  Defined taxonomy of Fact City content, and classified data sets and components according to hierarchical structure.

Created and organized corporate library for rapidly growing healthcare management consulting firm.  Established core collection and facility design.
